  • Grad students needed for Vice Provost of Undergraduate Education Search Committee, email gpsopres@indiana.edu if interested.
  • GPSO Assembly passed a resolution supporting a campus Bicycle Master Plan.
  • IU remains committed to Freedom Indiana; University counsel has testified in IN House and Senate committees.
  • The Campus Strategic Plan will be released for comment by the Provost this week.
  • GPSO Elections take place in March, please consider running, time commitment is minimal for most positions, see below for more information.

Graduate Funding Workshop - Tuesday, February 18

Are you applying for grants, fellowships, or assistantships this semester? Would you like advice tailored to applications for spring GPSO Travel and Research Awards?

Come check out our graduate funding workshop, presented in conjunction with GradGrants! Topics covered will incorporate both internal and external funding application processes.This event will take place in Wells Library, room E174.

Nominations Open: GPSO Executive Committee

It is almost time to elect the GPSO Executive Committee for the 2014–2015 academic year! Elections will be held during the March 7th Assembly Meeting.

Current GPSO representatives can nominate themselves, other representatives, current officers, or other eligible graduate/professional students. All positions are open for nominations, and descriptions are available here.

To be eligible, a candidate must be a currently-enrolled graduate or professional student in a degree-granting program at IUB.  The term lasts from May 1st until April 30th the following year. Representatives who seek election and win must resign their Assembly seats upon taking office on the Executive Committee.

GPSO is excited to announce the following grants and awards available for the spring semester.  Please contact gpsofnds@indiana.edu with any questions regarding the application process or your award eligibility, and we look forward to reading about your projects!

Conference Grants - http://www.indiana.edu/~gpso/awards-funding/conference/

  • Support local events benefitting graduate and professional students
  • Amount based on need, maximum $250
  • Funding in advance, or to reimburse event from that semester
  • Application deadline: Feb 28th at 11:59pm

Partnership Grants - http://www.indiana.edu/~gpso/awards-funding/partnership-grants/

  • Support collaborative efforts of student organizations to work between school boundaries
  • Flat $200 award
  • Application deadline: Feb 28th at 11:59pm

Research Awards - http://www.indiana.edu/~gpso/awards-funding/research-awards/

  • Support student research projects
  • 10 awards of $1,000 each
  • Application deadline: Feb 23rd at 11:59pm

Travel Awards - http://www.indiana.edu/~gpso/awards-funding/travel-awards/

  • Support student travel to events relevant to their academic and professional development
  • 16 awards of $500 each
  • Application deadline: Mar 9th at 11:59pm

  • Recognizes a faculty member for outstanding mentorship of students.
  • Nomination deadline: Mar 30th at 11:59pm

  • Recognizes outstanding graduate students in the fields of research, community, and teaching.
  • Nomination deadline: Apr 28th at 11:59pm

Survey: Bloomington Energy Consumption

Take 10 minutes to share your energy consumption data, and have your name entered into a drawing for a $50 gift certificate for any downtown Bloomington business! Any local rental that uses electricity and/or natural gas is eligible.

The IU Student Association and the Energy Leaders Student Association are partnering with the City of Bloomington to build an online database of off-campus rentals, but we need your help to make it work.

Don't pay your own utilities?  You can still enter the contest by filling out any other information you have on our long form here.  To be included in the drawing, your submittal must be received by midnighton April 15.
