IU's 20th Annual Preparing Future Faculty Conference

Preparing Future Faculty Conference (PFFc) is a one-day event designed to provide graduate students, of all disciplines and at all phases of their educations, with important information about preparing for their future academic careers. The conference consists of four sessions addressing such graduate student concerns as progression toward the Ph.D., developing innovative teaching strategies, balancing teaching, research, and service, navigating the job market, acclimating to a new faculty position, and professional opportunities within and outside of academia.

Each year the conference is organized by a committee of graduate students, led by a PFF fellow appointed and funded by the Sociology department. Funding for the conference is provided by the University Graduate School and various participating departments. Panelists are typically professors from IUB and surrounding universities. Special care is made to invite panelists from a diverse array of disciplines and institutions.

Registration is not required. The conference is free and open to all IU graduate students. In order to participate in the complimentary lunch; however, you must RSVP by Monday, January 26th, to iupffc@gmail.com with your name, department, and year in your program. There is limited seating for lunch. Thank you!

The Week of Chocolate

Saturday Jan 24 - Saturday, Jan 31 | Various venues in Bloomington

The Week of Chocolate (WOC) is a week-long, collaborative, community-wide festival hosted by LIFEDesigns. It has been in existence for over 10 years.  Throughout the week, different nonprofit organizations hold a chocolate-themed event to raise money in support of their mission.  All funds raised at each event go directly to that event’s host agency. Most of the organizations hold the same event each year and use them as signature fundraisers. These popular events are a great way to raise awareness and funds while also enjoying something almost everyone loves: chocolate!  Come enjoy the most exciting thing Bloomington has to offer at the chilly end of January….and help us spread the word about this highly enjoyed and anticipated event!
